  • PRODUCTION ENGINEER - ELECTRONICS - SHENZHEN

    RPDK seeks an enthusiastic Electronic Engineer with experience in NPD to support the DVT, PVT and NPD production batches of new products in the medical, consumer and sustainability markets. This person will support the transition from prototypes to manufactured goods by working with suppliers to optimise SMT processes, design and test programming jigs, troubleshoot firmware issues and troubleshoot electronic and firmware issues on the production line.

    RPDK is a UK based business helping clients develop and manufacture new products. We work in a wide variety of industries with particular focus on medical devices, consumer electronics and sustainability projects. The UK office focusses on the engineering development of new devices, whilst the China office focusses on the production setup and management of manufacturing stages of NPD. RPDK is part of the Kinara International Group, a global business supporting end-to-end product development, sourcing and manufacturing for clients.

    Salary: 25,000-35,000 RMB/Month x13

    Location: Current office location: Xili, Shenzhen moving to Bao’An, Shenzhen April 2024.

    Travel: Frequent travel to GuangDong City and the surrounding areas to visit factories and suppliers. No regular international travel required. Annual trip to London Office if required.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for aligning with the UK team on the client requirements for NPD and helping to set up PCBA production with the SMT contract manufacturers.

    • Responsible for organising with suppliers to meet the plan requirements.

    • Responsible for designing and developing test jigs and associated software/firmware to produce client products and validate them on the production line

    • Responsible for working with EMS during DVT, PVT and Batch Manufacturing to ensure test jigs and troubleshooting is performed correctly and provide technical support where the factory may have issues

    • Responsible for reviewing products that fail the testing and identifying the cause, proposing design or process changes or re-work to resolve the issues

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Good written and spoken language skills in Chinese Mandarin and English

    • Preferred experience of working in NPD in an EMS environment

    • Firmware

    o Experience with Python and running scripts on Windows and Raspberry Pi

    o Experience with programming Microcontrollers

    o [Optional] Experience with wireless testing such as BLE testing using the nRF Conennt app or WiFi testing

    • Electronics

    o Ability to solder and rework PCBs

    o Ability to test PCBs according to a test plan and help fault find when issues occur

    o Knowledge of Electronics and Mass Production and how to help set up a production line and successfully manufacture and test PCBs

    o Ability to help assemble small runs of prototypes for DVT purposes before going to the production line

    o Ability to test products according to a pre-defined test plan and help locate issues when they occur

    o Experience with advising on product or production line improvements to help feedback to the London team

    o Experience with reading Engineering Question feedback from PCB Manufactures and advising designers on best routes forward

    o [Optional] experience in designing and reviewing PCB designs in Altium

    • Engineering or English Language degree preferred but not required

    Reporting Lines:

    • This person will report to the CTO, based in London, UK. The CTO travels regularly to the office in China and will be in phone communication 3-4 times a week for planning and collaboration on tasks.

    • The CTO will be responsible for your career development and skills development through the year

    • This role will not be directly responsible for the management of any staff, but we expect the person to fit into a collaborative team that work to support and develop each other.

    Interview schedule:

    • In-Person interviews will be held in Xili W/C 5th December 2023 and W/C 8th January 2024

    • The interview process will include an in-person interview with the CEO or CTO. This will be followed by a call with the wider UK team, if successful.

    • A hiring decision will be made before CNY 2024, but may be made quicker with the right candidate.
